Not sure of the whole story but I noticed this dog (looked like a Great Dane) just sitting in the parking lot while I bought gas. After I was done I drove over to see what was going on but a woman was trying to get the dog in her car so I thought it was probably OK. But after I pulled into the line for the light I saw the dog run over to the edge of the parking lot and the woman give up and drive away. The way the dog laid down in the drive way next to the parking lot looked like it belonged there but I was still uneasy about it and resolved to come back the next day to see if she (the dog) was still there. She was but she was dead. I can only guess that she was either hit or dumped. She did not look injured but did look awful thin.
